Anita Bryant, anti-gay rights activist and singer, dead at 84
Anita Bryant Dry, known popularly Anita Bryant — a singer and crusader against the progress of gay rights — has died at the age of 84, her family announced in an obituary. She died Dec. 16 at her Edmond, Oklahoma, home.
Fine lady, she stood behind her beliefs even when it hurt her. Use to ride my motorcyle thru her hometown (Hwy 11). A pumpjack was in the middle of mainstreet. The tiny town was ripped up by a tornado a couple of years ago.
that is my wifes grandmas home town we visit often. the tornado was last year, it barely missed her house the neighbors two houses away were not as lucky. it is a wonderful small town america that is dying.
From the article “The concept has been disproven by a variety of studies which show that sexual orientation has no correlation with whether or not someone will abuse children.” Completely unrelated, over 90% of gay men had their first sexual encounter with an older man when they were 16 or younger.
Her predictions and warnings about the danger of normalizing homosexuality have proven prophetic. Pandering to that 1-2% has led to enormous dysfunction in society broadly with consequences we are yet to fully understand. The problem has always been where to draw the line between tolerance (or acceptance) individually and the desire of the members of the minority to proselytize, evangelize, and recruit- which leads to the dystopian results we are now seeing at all levels in public office (New Orleans and LA are the most recent examples).

Someone way ahead of her time.
ReplyDeleteShe and my mom were in the "give them an inch and they'll take a mile" club. Given the tranny grooming going on, they were right.
ReplyDeleteNext time I have a glass of orange juice I shall toast the memory of Anita.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure some think the world needs more people like her, who will take a stand against immorality and deviance.
ReplyDeleteyes I do. You don't?
