California Gov. Gavin Newsom has proposed a $322 billion budget without a deficit, a welcome change after two years of significant budget shortfalls in the nation's most populous state.
But the budget Newsom announced Monday is mostly a placeholder as California waits to see if incoming President Donald Trump will follow through on threats to revoke billions in federal dollars, which could force lawmakers to make painful cuts to essential programs. About a third of California's budget relies on funding from the federal government, including tens of billions to provide health care services. Trump takes office Jan. 20, and Newsom must sign the final budget by the end of June.
Probably doesn't include fire rebuild costs.
ReplyDeleteCalif wastes billions on liberal pie in the sky social bullshit & tons of freebies for illegals, all while screwing people who were born and raised here. These scum just approved over a hundred new laws that took effect Jan 1st. All while bailing out Hollywood before there was ever a fire. Meanwhile my electric bill is up 60% in 3 years and I can't afford to put gas in the car. Hell is too good for them. I hope Trump shuts off the spigot and they have to live within their means.
ReplyDeleteThey will live within your means.
DeleteMaybe Newsomes house will burn. Anybody?
DeleteNewsom's going to have to keep taxing all those millionaires, who moved out of state, on their burned down property.
ReplyDeleteYeah, me, my #2 son and his family living in Oakland aren't holding our breaths on this.
ReplyDeleteI'd like to hear more about those "essential programs".

self employment went from being upper middle class in the 80’s to living hand to mouth in 20’s. 100% due to draconian over regulation with BS“environmental “ laws. I could see that retirement was not going to happen so we loaded up the truck and moved to Tennessee. While I miss the country where I spent my whole life, we absolutely love it here, love the people and hope that no changes come with the influx of other transplants
