The stay off the couch only last so long, they manage to crawl up next to you, keep you warm and remind you that no matter what you are safe with me and vice versa.
yeah. the wife says she always felt safe with Slim around. my fault really. as I would tell him to watch over her when I left for work. the problem was he took his job to heart. she couldn't even take a shower without him in the bathroom with her. and the couch ? he would lay across her legs and doze off like. if she made any move, he was up and awake in a second. after a while she got used to having 110 pounds of muscle and bone right beside her ALL the time. after we moved to the woods, took him a while to relax, but he did and became the neighborhood goofy dog. loved little kids and played with them whenever he could. one guy across the road used to call me to "come get my dog" as he couldn't bring in his kids with Slim out there with them ? so yeah. he enjoyed his last years in the woods. and did he ever get stupid when it snowed ! play in the snow until he was freezing and I drag his ass in. he flop in front of the woodstove until he steamed then wanted to go back out again. my one neighbor used to plow up mounds for him to play in. so, yeah. he lived a good life. dave in pa.
the one thing you always get from a dog is that look that says "you are my whole world" trust like that is a rare thing outside of dogs. and that one above is showing you just that.
