No Big Rock Candy Mountain

As most readers know, the problem with the American system is not the system itself, it’s the disregard our elected representatives have for that system, an almost hatred of it. Instead of a governmental system that takes care of all of the background administrative necessities, like enforcing the borders, enforcing tariffs on other nations, responding to threats against the interests of the republic as a whole, it has devolved into looting the public’s pockets for the interests of their donors, who, in gratification, return some of that loot to the representatives themselves, or other organizations that support these representatives while taking a cut.

  1. I'm not a history expert, but I see the country’s founding fathers 250 years ago as being idealists who wanted to construct, support and grow a constitutional republic for the general citizenry they represented. Materialism wasn't as big a deal as today. Now we have holier-than-thou, blowhard, shysters maneuvering to get elected so they can rake in millions and millions from Lobbyists and doners. In the current world of human motivation driven by one-upmanship by possessing more toys than others it’s called evolution where the political enviornment is one big club and the peasants ain’t in it.

  2. America was founded as a constitutional republic, it devolved into a democracy which then allowed it to mutate into its current form...an oligarchic kleptocracy.
