  2. The article mentions that all three of the men shot were armed; it is not clear if they were brandishing the arms or not. If I walked out on three men coming up my drive at night and they were showing firearms, the result would likely be the same. Hell, I have been known to carry openly if the Jehovah Witnesses show up. Most people call me before they come.

And, oh yeah. You step out of line, the men come and take you away.

  4. At least the victims returned fire, effectively, it would appear.

  5. Mug shot looks like a young Rob Reiner, but we all know he'd never let a firearm get withing 10 feet except for the ones his 5 bodyguards have on them.

Background checks are needed to stop idiots like this one from owning guns.

Guns, like ballots, should not be for everyone.

  8. dumb question:
why did they walk up to someone's house "armed"?
if it's a matter of security, leave one man at the cars with the weapons secured and the other two walk up to the house unarmed.
three armed people walk up to my house, the LEOs aren't going to get there for a half hour; I have a family to protect and I don't consider myself to be paranoid.
This isn't the '40s or the '50s - and even back then...

  9. I have the misfortune of being a life member of the NRA and am old enough to remember when they were a good organization. You know, before 1994. Background checks are about as useful as 51 intelligence agencies at preventing criminals and terrorists from attacking us. More laws and more government are not going to save you. IMHO. Eod1sg Ret

  10. Two men, not three, walked up to the house.

The guy who hit the deer and the Good Samaritan walked up to the house because they had no cell reception and needed help.

The householder came out and there was an exchange of fire in which the Samaritan was killed and the other two guys were wounded.

If the dead guy was in uniform. The householder may have thought he was a cop.

Whatever the case, It should be possible to walk up to someone's house without being shot at. I'd say the householder is in deep kim-chi.
