  1. I hate the remake starring the Rock.
It was everything Pusser did not want Hollywood to do.

    1. Yeah, I really liked the part where he moved the judge's chambers into the basement men's restroom. Although, apparently that didn't really happen and was a twist fabricated just for the movie. Still immensely entertaining. Joe Don Baker was great as Buford.

  3. A friend of mine’s parents owned a Drive In Theater back in the day. He told me the longest running movie they ever showed was the original Walking Tall. I don’t remember how many weeks, but people filled the place night after night. When Buford was busting heads with that big stick they would cheer and honk their horns.

  4. I remember when Sheriff Pusser came to Lubbock, Tx to kill a man who tried to kill him. Luckily the Sheriff was sympathetic and very little was said or done about it. The job was done and Pusser went home.

  5. My family‘s elders always used to say that Pusser was simply fighting to install a rival gang. One gang fighting another, using the local sheriff as muscle.

  6. For sure the movie was great , but it was all Hollywood bs. Buford was a crooked dude ,only a few folks around here think he was a hero and they moved in here from other states! I sure had a hard time believing that myself , because when I left to go in the military and being from this small town I had no idea anyone outside of McNairy county knew who he was . Man I was wrong! When people asked where I was from I would ask if they’d ever seen Walking Tall and 98% of the time they did, so it was kinda cool, I left home in ‘89. Fast forward 25 years and I finally make it home, and my older self starts reacquainting with folks and I learn more stories that younger self didn’t really pick up on. There are still quite a few folk’s alive that knew him pretty well , and knew what was going on , and had run in’s with him. The good old sheriff killed his wife! That fella Mike Elam that’s doing all the videos is telling the truth, I know it’s hard to believe after so long but it’s still the truth. Knew about more details of the man before the videos came out including about the gun and story about the gun he used and who had it.
