Some mellow music for your Friday evening

Willie Watson - Real Love

EmmyLou Harris - Till I Gain Control Again

Kassi Valazza & Taylor Kingman - I Stole The Right to Live

John Prine & Nanci Griffith - The Speed Of The Sound Of Loneliness

Townes Van Zandt - Rex's Blues

*****

Willie Watson is one of those musicians that while I don't like everything he puts out, the songs I do like, I really really like.
I ran across that Willie Watson song a few months back and I have to say it's probably one of his best.

  1. First time I ever heard John Prine music was in the bottom of the Grand Canyon. A young and pretty Park Warden brought out her guitar and entertained the hikers who came down the path that day. "Take me back to Muhlenberg County" Gave me goosebumps and I'll never forget that soulful song.

  2. Emmylou Harris - I can't believe she's within three months of my age. I always picture her just turning thirty.

  5. This is one of my favorites: You'll never Leave Harlan Alive. For some reason I am partial to this rendition by Taylor Demp.

  6. I’ve been a John Prine fan since 1975, when I first heard his song “Dear Abbey”. I still listen to his music almost every day. Sadly, he passed away a few years ago from Covid. He was an American icon, in my opinion.

  7. Hey Amigo...i just added a new nugget to my collection called Show-biz Blues vol 2. Early early Fleetwood Mac. It was pretty much Peter Green with ' my friends Mick & John helping out'. disc1 is mostly short radio friendly covers, while disc 2 is live versions of black magic woman, jumping at shadows, green manalishi, and a couple of others. good stuff man.

  8. I was in my 30s in the 70s and after 10 years of the 60s heavy metal bands dancing to mellow songs were perfect for putting the pubic grinding and ear nibbling moves on babes.
