I saw a video of a guy who followed a flatbed truck that had a large pipe wrench on the tip of the bed, when they got to the guy's business, he told the driver he was about to lose the wrench. The guy laughed and showed him the wrench was welded to the bed to discourage asshole talegaters.
There's a chance that it might be safer than it looks. It might be a longer log than the rest and it goes all the way up to the front of the box. Then it'll have a bunch of weight holding it in place since it's at the bottom of the pile. However it is still extremely dangerous for anyone running into the back of it.
If you’ve got a ladder, boards/building material….. or household furniture poking out of the bed of your car/truck…..
I’ll change lanes and try to get in front of you….. A friend lost his truck and his handyman trailer…. in a big chain accident caused by an airborne freeway couch. Ed357
I've personally run over a king box spring on a freeway. It got airborne off of some waterhead's pickup and flew over the car in front of me. Had no choice but the hit it...traffic on one side and a huge retaining wall on the other. Looked in my mirror to see the carnage behind me. Springs, cotton batting, and lumber flying everywhere. Lots of cars pulling over to inspect for damage while the fucking moron continued merrily on his way.
I had a deck truck passing me once on a highway. He lost a 2in welded union off of his deck (not secured) and it cane through my windshield and landed in my passenger seat, which was luckily empty.
Was driving I94 in Spearfish, SD last July. Utility truck with a giant toolbox on the open tailgate was in front of me. At first I wanted to be sure that it wasn't bolted down so I followed in the adjacent lane while noting that the driver was fully engulfed in his phone conversation. At about 70 MPH the toolbox started moving so I pulled alongside. After about 10-15 seconds of blowing my horn he finally looked over and noted my pointing to the back of his truck. Probably saved him at least a thousand bucks in tools and maybe even some poor saps life.
Won't have to wait long.
ReplyDeleteFinal Destination maybe?

I'll wait for it, after I move into another lane

DeleteEasy map lookup based on the street sign.
ReplyDeleteNorth East Atlanta, Peachtree Industrial Blvd & S Berkeley Lake Rd
Or it could be somewhere else.
DeleteGeorgia. There’s a big, old southern pine in the right side of the picture. Plus, Lake Berkeley is in Norcross, just north of Atlanta.
