Dad was Highway Patrol, and his prize was a guy who blew either .39 or .4 when he got him to the sheriff's office.
He was so out they had to hold the mouthpiece in his mouth, hold it closed, and push on his belly to get enough air for the test. Didn't believe it, cleaned, purged, and recalibrated it, got the same.
They were afraid if they tried to get him to the nearest hospital, 30- something miles away in rural Oklahoma, he'd stop breathing, so they spent hours walking him around the jail. When they got him down to .2 something they were exhausted and put him in a cell. He woke up in the morning with zero memory of anything.
I'm sure that qualified immunity will shield the fuzz when the guy kills someone(s). Screw this guy and the cops and judge who let him go.
In my county a judge was caught drunk driving multiple times. One time was when he had passed out drunk behind the wheel. His car came to a stop on the road. Passed out drunk plus multiple times before that. Each time they let him go. Then one afternoon he killed a girl riding her bicycle. Drunk, as usual. Cops woke him up. His car up on the sidewalk. Didn't remember a thing, he said. He got probation and remained on the bench!
Myself have been hit twice by drunk drivers. I think being caught drunk driving should be automatic death sentence. Right there and now. That's for first offense.
3.6? WOW! The state of Washington is trying to lower the BAC threshold from. 08 to .05. That otta scare some sense into the 3.6 crowd. (S/O) By the way. That level of lunacy is why Phyllis Schlafly gave up on Mothers Against Drunk Drivers.
Used to work hospital security. Highest I had come in was somewhere just over .4. What's amazing is that he was much more functional than many of the teenagers who came in at .05.
Best I ever heard was a .88. At least that was what the coroner got from his corpse. Crashed his motorcycle into an abutment. Last seen pulling away from a quickie mart with a 6 pack balanced on the tank.
Best I ever saw was during my residency. We had a pro who came in - no BS- at 0.77. He was drunk, to be sure, but still walking and talking. Started having Data when his level got down around 0.25.

My first thought was ".329BAC, is that another new rifle cartridge?" I didn't think anyone could be conscious at that level.

.329 BAC sounded like some exotic caliber when I first read it. Atta boy! That might be a new record.
ReplyDeleteMug shot says: "5? Hell, you ain’t seen nothing yet".

In Wisconsin .329 is not exceptionally notable.
