State agencies within Gov. Gavin Newsom's administration have either stalled or refused to release records that could show how Californians could save money on their utility bills.
A recent report by the California Legislature's top financial and policy advisor showed Californians pay the second highest utility prices in the country, and those rising rates have been outpacing inflation.
Our electric rates are absurd, triple the nat'l avg. We got windmills and solar up the wazoo which are supposed to save money. Now they're closing a huge solar plant in the desert for being inefficient. A year ago we were getting letters saying we were using too much electricity. I put up led's, put timers on things, even got a new supposedly low power fridge. I cut our energy use in half. Now the CEO says since we are using LESS electricity we have to pay MORE! WTF!
ReplyDeleteSOS, DD. Past big water drought in Kalifornia. Governor (then) says everybody conserve water. Anybody remember "If it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down"? Yeah, everybody conserved water, so water company revenues went down, and they jacked the rates.

DeleteWhat they are doing is criminal extortion. Since you have no choice they can charge whatever they want. Just like the mafia.

"Lord, if Newsom is on that list, I swear by all that's Holy I'll never touch my private place again. Amen"
DeleteThe solution is easy: deregulation. Let some other suppliers in and get out of the way. There are over 1000 globally that would love a crack at the business, but nooooooo...Way to go, hair gel.
ReplyDeleteThose of us in nearby states can help Califukinfornia to save electricity by quitting to send ours there.
