An Idaho man was nabbed for allegedly stealing merchandise from a local Walmart using a makeshift barcode device that scanned the price of tomato soup.
That's pretty clever actually. Using a self checkout (Walmart loves their self checkouts) at a busy time of day would make it harder to detect, and going to different Walmarts would help too.
A $25,000 bond over a $300 theft seems excessive, there must be more to this story. It does reference other thefts.
Says he was charged with felony burglary. Idaho felony burglary for commercial theft states that if you've previously got popped for shoplifting 2 or more times in the last 5 years, shoplifting charges automatically become felonies.
