  1. I could spend a lot of time watching Townsends. I should spend some time practicing with my various fire starters. I built a fire piston, but it needs work. An altoids tin works great for making char cloth, using a small camp stove.

  3. Valuable skill and tools to have if you ever need them. These days, ferrocerium rods replace steel strikers that used to be used with flint and make the job very easy. You need to know how to assemble a tinder bundle and have assembled the dry twigs and small diameter sticks to quickly build the fire. The real skill comes with being able build a fire in the rain. I have yet to master that one.
