  1. Spent a week camping all around McKinley....the only time the mossies weren't biting was when you stood in the smoke from the campfire......didn't see a moose till we got back into town at Anchorage....

  2. How about renaming it Mt Trump, just to watch more heads explode

    1. It is too early to be shooting coffee out my nose. But yes that would be awesome. How far is it to Mt. Trump more

  5. I may be wrong on this. If so, one doesn't have to be an ass about telling me so. I thought Obama changed the name to some rag head name. Denali sounds like some Muslim shit to me. I have heard this is actually a local Indian name meaning, The High One. It's my understanding that's why Alaskians want to keep in as Denali. It's not some democrate muslim shit. Personally I don't care what they call it. However, I might add I sure like seeing, The Gulf of America on a map.

    1. I thought it was some indigenous name, but I have not typed a single letter toward "researching" it and I also do not care, Frankly...Denali sounds better than McKinley...whatever. There are MUCH bigger fish to fry- much of which folks are not paying attention to. YMMV.

    2. Gulf of America? I grew up on the Gulf coast in Corpus Christi, TX. I got no problem with the name Gulf of Mexico. But if it's gonna be changed, it should be called the Gulf of Texas. Just my dos centavos

    3. Nah dude, Gulf of Texas is dumb......

    4. Yes, Denali is an Alaska Native (one version of Athabaskan) name for it. I don't know anyone, even any Athabaskans, who care and there was no real push to get it changed to Denali in the first place, though I'm sure there are some fat white women at the university that claim to care in place of the Natives.

    5. Apparently, multiple tribes have a name for the big rock. None of them call it Denali. Denali isn't even phonetically correct. IOW, Denali is a complete fabrication lacking connection to any heritage.

So if the object was to favor the tribes, which tribe? Which name?
      McKinley is correct.

    1. Nah, most of it is really clean and pleasant, so naming it after Houston just wouldn’t make sense.

  8. Why did they re-name it in the first place, anyways? It was Denali before McKinley was ever born,
and still is long after his death. Besides, its not like his presidency was a landmark event in American politics. I hate naming things with politician's names, as they generally are not worth that honor.

  9. Mexico can rename the Gulf of California to Gulf of Mexico, or what ever they like

  10. Hey I've been there! It is weird to see a mountian poking out of the clouds as you fly by at 30k feet...

  11. Call that mountain what you want. I don't mind if you name it after my GMC pickup.
