A landscaper in Florida says he was denied service at an area nursery because of the flag he had on his truck.
Junior Celestino, a longtime landscaper in Manatee County, said an altercation recently took place at the Mariposa Nursery and Garden Center when he was trying to make a purchase.
Unfortunately, it isn't just the immigrants that need to be schooled on the idea of rights. Your right to display a flag of another country does not Trump the right of anyone else to refuse to do business with you.
ReplyDeleteActually, displaying the flag of another country does NOT make you a protected class. Chances are good the business has the right to refuse service. Now if he could prove it was because of his nationality ... maybe a different story.
DeleteI got no problem with people flying flags to display their loyalties. As a matter of fact, I think it should be required by law. Makes things easier when in a SHTF situation. Eod1sg Ret
ReplyDeleteThis goes along with the "NO SHOES, NO SHIRT, NO SERVICE" signs in restaurants. Bars cut off customers when they appear to have had too much to drink. A business is not required to serve anyone.
ReplyDeleteAs the owner of a busness I ought to have the right to serve who I want to. I took the risk, I invested, I pay the taxes and I woked the long hours building my business. I don't need some politician telling who I can or can't hire or who I can and can't serve.
ReplyDeleteThat right hasn't been there for decades, at least since the civil rights movement of the 60's. "No dogs or Irish" signs are now illegal.
DeleteThat should change. Freedom of association implies freedom to refuse to associate, and we don't have that in the US anymore and haven't had for almost a hundred years now. Hopefully that'll change soon. But I'm not holding my breath.

Speak English and fly the Stars & Stripes Pedro......Stars & Bars optional.
ReplyDeleteFlies Mexican flag, doesn't want to live in Mexico, demands Americans do business with him.
ReplyDeleteGo home, not here, Chicano. Take your machismo culture with you...it's worked so well for Mehico.
Cheers, Thor
I live not far from this place. There’s more to this. They’re protesting everywhere and blocking roadways. Now suddenly, after ten years doing business with the nursery, there’s a problem? It’s you, Junior!
ReplyDeleteFigured there was more to the story. Thank you Mr. Harvey.

Good for the business owner.
ReplyDeleteIt is about time we had people choose....choose the country you are loyal to. CHoose the people you are loyal to.
When you choose race over citizenship, it should hurt.
If you like Mexico so much, go back and "Enrich" that country. We don't need you.
But Junior can't get $100 cutting a 1/4 acre yard in Mexico.

Estoy harto de que los inmigrantes que vienen a mi país me dicten cómo debo actuar. ¡Que se jodan!
ReplyDeleteI have no recourse when I get the stink-eye as a White man from the surly negress at the cash register, or attitude from the chubby latina poking me at a blood draw. I should be free to refuse association with anyone I do not care to associate with, just as they are free to express their disapproval of me and my deplorable status.
ReplyDeleteShould have had a Confederate flag on his truck, too. That way no one knows how they are supposed to react.
ReplyDeleteWell punta, if your flag is so important to you take it and your ass back to Mexico.....

As a business owner. It is best to smile , keep your politics to your self, and make plans to service all the needs of your customer / client with a smile at a very much larger rate. Dealing with certain folks is just more expensive. Be sure to remind them that the goods they need are cheaper in their former country and giggle. Also be sure to take full payment up front. Remind them that all sales are final. Next offer to set it up for a convenient time in the second week of March of 2027 for final delivery. Usually their problem gets solved by another. If you do get it they will love you beyond compare and be yours forever. Trust me it works.
ReplyDeleteTom Homan needs to pay the landscaper a visit.
