CENTENNIAL, Colo. (KMGH) – Thieves at a Colorado pet store allegedly faked having a seizure to cause a distraction to steal two English bulldog puppies.
Bianca Rose Larsen, the manager of Perfect Pets, said the store has been robbed twice within a month.
"Free to a good home" is mostly a thing of the past. Home breeders, who don't want to be called a breeder, use the phrase "re-homing fee" and pretend it's to weed out people that wouldn't take care of the dog.
High priced, specialized dog breeds like $1,000 torn jeans and $100,000 vehicles have become status symbols for the "I's all about me—Look at me" spoiled brat, Tiktok addicted generation. Time for Mother Nature to bring on that 20 mile wide travelling at 25,000mph asteroid.
I live right near that place. Very cute animals, but complete puppy mill recipient with big prices. Pretty frequently, there are protesters outside as well. They seem to lose animals at an astonishing rate of people swiping them.
It's the 'Pedigree Dog' scam. People watch the Westminster Dog Show and want a trophy dog. What they get is an inbred dog born in a puppy mill, probably from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. Everybody thinks the Amish are 'so cute.' They wouldn't think that if they saw the insides of some of those mills.
Meanwhile, I got Zsa Zsa, a pit, at a shelter for a neutering fee.
Same here Ken, we've had, maybe 7-10? dogs over the last 48 years, all were free to good home. The last one is a 3/4 Malinois, 1/4 German Shepherd. It was about 8 weeks old and being held hostage out front of the local Tractor Supply. The wife got a phone number. We've always had female dogs because they aren't ass holes and don't chase bitches in heat, 3 miles up wind. That was 2 years ago, me and Biden had finally convinced my wife that we needed a badass guard dog. So we go look at the litter, one of them picked me out and parked on my foot, decision made. We paid $350, money well spent. The breeders tell us a big Malinois might make 75 pounds. So our Gud Boi is eating and growing like a weed, about 9-10 lbs a month. So at a vet check up, I run him onto the scale and holy shit he's a hundred pounds! HEY, it's our first big breed, badass dog, whuddah we know? Any way he went on a diet that day and now I keep his weight in the low to mid 90's. He's fast and maneuverable, he likes to chase sky raisons, birds, bats, squirrels, bunnies and everything else that may offend his eyesight. He will break off from the chase as soon as I yell a "NO!" at him and comes back. I rough house with him everyday and he only escalates as much I do. He enjoys it and it helps keep me in shape (at 74). He's one of 4 mutts, a super good pack critter. His size and color makes him look too much like a deer, so we put a blaze orange hunting vest on him for deer season, doesn't bug him at all. A wicked smart, kind hearted guardian. We have to live until 2035 to full fill our part of the implied partnership. Looking forward to it.
English Bulldogs are a very weird animal, I had a coworker that had one.... They have lots of health issues, extremely heat intolerant, have to be artificially bred and needs a C-section to deliver due to their out of size head relative to their size.. Also they rarely produce more than 3 pups in a litter so if you want one be prepared to pay because they ain't cheap JD
Where I live all of the "homeless" have a dog. One of them has a French Bulldog. Several have Belgian Malinois. I would like one of those but they are too expensive. I know they didn't buy it.
I've had GSD's for over 30 years and have never seen one under a grand, some over 4K. The dumbest one I've had was smarter than most people's teenagers and not by a little. I love them and have not considered any other breed. My eight month old, Havoc, will most likely be the last, as I'm getting old and he's almost more than me and the old lady can handle now. Fixed income living is also a consideration. I've known dumbass country boys all my life that have paid more for dogs than their cars. That's just the way things are around here. Eod1sg Ret

ReplyDeleteOh yeah, I have a 30 year old daughter who spent that amount on a super special non allergenic dog for her daughter. It is a sweet pup, but 4,000$?
ReplyDelete4K for a puppy? No surprise. We've thought about getting another Golden Retriever for awhile, but with a 2k or so price tag for a pup....
ReplyDeleteSame here. Stud service for Golden's alone run $500.
DeleteI'm just gigolo....

Son and DIL never even get a chance to pay for a dog or cat. They keep falling into their laps from every direction.
ReplyDeleteLast one I lost, I decided to not have anymore. God threw out the little girl in front of my house a month later.
DeleteThe shelters are full of adoptable dogs. But they don't come with a paper pedigree status symbol.

Paid shelter fees for Diesel and Ethyl. Princess was a slightly used hand me down.
