All six of my brother's daughters got married outside, usually in the middle of high summer in Alabama, and usually in the middle of a cow pasture. One got married in the middle of a severe thunderstorm...we found out later that we were also under a tornado warning. Man, I hate outdoor weddings.
Motorcycle stopped in highway 3 or 4 cycles lengths past the big white stop here line. PT Cruiser driver says "didn't see him." Motorcycle gets ticket for failing to yield right of way. Then another for assault.
#2 - The motorcyclist was well in front of the stop line, he should have been 3 feet back. Even so the PT Cruiser driver was a complete idiot for not swinging right a bit. I will bet they were on the phone, it looks like they had no idea they just hit someone.
#6- Groom thinking right before the vows.....(Please God, if I shouldn't get married, give me some sign, any sign)...... #7- Here's a great invention idea- I'm surprised no one else has thought of it- Some kind of rail, mounted next the steps, that you can grab with your hand-
#2 bike stopped well past the stop bar, and then was sitting really close to the centerline, AND THEN saw the car coming and did not even try to move out of the way....AND THEN goes into attack mode.
You're saying it's the stationary biker's fault for not getting out of the way? Did you notice the car already had dents on that corner? I think you just have a stunningly incompetent car driver.
Good luck arguing that in court. If the vehicle is at rest, the vehicle that strikes it is at fault. You are to be in control of your vehicle at all times, PT driver was not. He hit a stationary vehicle.
#2 How does the law read? In Ontario the law states that whoever has the last chance to avoid the collision is at fault so since the bike was stationary the driver should have avoided him . Safety wise, if you're on a bike don't put yourself in a position where your safety depends on another driver, there are way too many idiots out there for you to avoid them all. #7 That's why there should be a bucket of ice remover on your porch during the winter. A handrail wouldn't hurt. Al_in_Ottawa
Charlie, The vehicle in motion is required by law (and common sense) NOT TO HIT stationary objects....anywhere, anytime. There's a few extenuating circumstances, like pulling up on the right side of my semi WHEN I'M TURNING RIGHT, where YOU CAN BE CITED, which happened to a poor, dumb bitch in Washington state, when the cop got there, he asked nicely if I would pull the tandems OFF HER HOOD, then proceeded to write her a ticket for failure to yield....ahhhhh, the good ol' days....it was a nice car, earlier that day....
I mentioned nothing about legal. I said, no sympathy for stupid. When I was sailing small boats, I never used had a motor. Under sail I always, by law, had the right of way. Always. But, I always deferred to the rule of tonnage. In the inevitable collision of 2 objects whether each is moving or not, the smaller will never win.

Boys being boys up for a challenge- trying to bat a fireball from a roman candle. I'm sure Mom was pissed....
Delete#2 Slow reflexes.
ReplyDeleteFalling on the ice ain't no joke.
#10 I hope they took his ride.
#2 Pretty much confirms what I think about anyone who drives a PT Cruiser and I don't apologize to any readers here who are in that group.
ReplyDeleteBecause of the way I saw them being driven years ago, I started calling them "PT Clueless".

Delete#1: do not ever step off of your bike BEFORE you come to a stop.

ReplyDeleteOh I agree - he was way past the line but you don't solve bad driving with more bad driving.

DeleteThe MSF RiderCoach in me agrees fully.
DeleteBike rider is at fault.
Bike rider was at a FULL STOP, PT is at fault. Just because rider was over line does not give driver the right to crash into his ride.
DeleteBoth drivers were idiots, but the motorcycle was indeed technically running the stop sign by stopping past the line. Legally, it's his fault.
DeleteGood luck arguing that in court. If the vehicle is at rest, the vehicle that strikes it is at fault. You are to be in control of your vehicle at all times, PT driver was not. He hit a stationary vehicle.
DeleteFor what it is worth, the bike rider is in the wrong escalating the situation.
DeleteNever stop in the left side of your lane, for just this reason. Yeah, moronic "biker".
