DOGE raid of independent US Institute of Peace is ‘unconstitutional’ overstep by Trump administration, officials and lawmakers say

The Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) carried out an “illegal takeover” Monday of the U.S. Institute of Peace (USIP) building in Washington, D.C., according to officials who worked there and members of Congress.

    If an “independent agency” Is government funded, then it’s not an independent agency.

    If this is truly private nonprofit, the Articles of Incorporation makes it clear. Otherwise, it's part of the executive branch. Congress can't create it's own little separate executive branch.

      No such thing as a private nonprofit. By being nonprofit you benefit from the government.
