MEMPHIS, Tenn. — A man is now in custody and facing an auto theft charge after a woman allegedly caught him driving her stolen car.

  1. Your honor my client is clearly innocnt of the charge since Mr. Campbell reportedly told police that he did not steal the car, he found it unoccupied and running, and he assumed it was the self-driving Uber he had ordered to take him to his hair stylist appointment.

  4. I worked for a year in Laredo. Our departmental secretary had her car stolen, something that was not that uncommon on the border; snatch the car, drive three miles, and you're in another country. She and her daughter were shopping in Nuevo Laredo, the Mexican sister city just across the Rio Grande, when she saw her car drive by. They followed it into a subdivision, watched it pull into a driveway, and watched the driver get out and go into a house. She had her keys in her purse, so she hopped out of her daughter's car, jumped into her own and fired that mother up (to quote Charlie Daniels). She drove home to Laredo. Two days later she got a call from a Nuevo Laredo policeman, asking if she would be so kind as to return his service pistol, which he had left in the trunk.
