Postmaster General Louis DeJoy announced an agreement Thursday with Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) help the financially struggling U.S. Postal Service (USPS) to identify cost savings and address systemic issues.
DeJoy announced the partnership, which includes the General Services Administration (GSA), in a letter to top lawmakers. The letter unveiled plans to cut 10,000 jobs over the next month through a voluntary early retirement program.
Going to every other day delivery could save them a bit.
ReplyDeleteOr at least stop Saturday delivery.
DeleteCut the carrier work force in half. Go to every other day deliveries. Carrier does route 1 on monday, rt 2 on tues, rt 1 on weds, rt2 on thurs, rt1 on fri, rt 2 on sat.
DeleteBoom, big savings Immediatly. Both on labor costs AND vehicle costs.
The USPS thanks to the internet and UPS, FedEx, Amazon, etc. is not as relevant today as it was 35 years ago, but I bet it has lot more employees, both grunts & management, today than in 1995 thanks to DEI. Personally, I don’t think it’s salvageable especially with all the judges issuing injunctions agains DOGE.
ReplyDeleteWhy hasn't DeJoy been replaced?
ReplyDeleteJust where has he been in his "Fixes" for the past 4 years?
DeleteYou know and I know it was under orders from Biden's folks that he would run a deficit and damage the USPS even more than it was before.....
Cloward-Piven, anyone?
"...efficiency expert...", Anon Way overdue. A proficiency test would be much appreciated, "Can you read names and numbers and match to the correct box?" "Can you move faster than the speed of sloth at the counter when lines back up?" For supervision, "Can you put more staff on the counter to open the always unmanned registers when lines are backed up?" I pay more to FedX or UPS, for the certainty of it reaching the destination.

Isn't Dejoy the postmaster who covered his ears at a congressional hearing when congressmen were interviewing him..... Lah, lah, lah...I can't hear you..... He's announced his retirement...so this agreement is the equivalent of farting in an elevator as the door opens and he steps out.
ReplyDeleteI'll help. Charge Amazon a higher rate for packages and stop Sunday delivery of Amazon packages. Make it easier to fire underperforming employees.
ReplyDeleteThey've needed an outside efficiency expert for a long time.
ReplyDeleteNaw, they should have been listening to the local postmasters/mistresses when they were telling them 'What you want is a waste of time and money.' Anyone who has worked for a major corporation has dealt with the inefficiencies of the corporate mind hive. And the larger the organization, the stupider it gets.
DeleteWell, at my local main post office, they cleared some 100yo oaks and paved a huge lot in order to install electric car chargers. And they've only been working on it for 4 years now. Probably get done in another 2-3 years or so.
ReplyDeleteI dread seeing electric mail trucks on the road. The company that makes them doesn't have a very good track record at all.
The only thing I use the USPS for is to deliver my utility bills, I like paper copies of them in case of a dispute on payment, and the occasional Amazon delivery.. So for about 26 days a month the mail carrier drives right past my mailbox..
ReplyDeleteJD
They need to get rid of their DEI hires. I know of a retarded person in Missoula who was hired as a supervisor (his first job in life) and contributes nothing to the working environment.
ReplyDeleteHow about stopping public relations expenses. Millions to sponsor the Olympics!
ReplyDeleteThis one goes way, way back, but it's very relevant today; What does the post offiice and Thom McAnn the shoe company have in common they both have tens of thousands of black loafers! Ha ha ha ha, oh hit, that one is soooo funny!!
ReplyDeleteStop delivering junk mail.
