A dying Labrador named Honey had her last wish granted by kind truck drivers who offered to take her for a ride.
The dog came into a local nonprofit's care after her owner, Gabe, died. The geriatric dog was already 14 and her caretakers wanted to make her last days special.
Awesome. Funny, eyes kinda wet...

He didn't let him stick his head out the window.
ReplyDeleteWHO CARES ? she got fed her favorite food ! the old girl look very happy riding in the trucks and free lunch too?
Deleteit like taking your old dog for that last hunt, doesn't matter if they jump anything up
it the idea of being together one last time. I didn't even load my shotgun although I should have. he did jump up a few rabbits that day. damn dusty in here. dave in pa.
Yeah, Dave, I know. I was just trying to be funny. I'm glad for all involved. The dog, of course, but also all the people who made this happen. They got something out of this, too. Helping a 'dumb animal' have a good day is good for the soul. I just hope when her time comes, they give her a Hershey Bar right before they put the needle in. Every dog deserves to taste chocolate before they get to Heaven.

DeleteOn Monday, SOAR shared on social media that Honey had died after her final ride. They shared a video of Honey with Gabe and wrote, 'We wish we could've met him while he was here, and it was our honor to serve Honey while she waited to join him.'
Damn, it's getting dusty in here.

Dogs are the #1 most beautiful, loving, protecting and caring animals on the planet. We don't deserve 'em. R.I.P Gabe n Honey

Honey is back with Gabe, riding the highway in the sky. Good on you, girl. God bless the truckers who gave her a few last rides.
ReplyDeleteYeah man.
ReplyDeleteI'm not much for religion. But if heaven don't have dogs, I'm not interested
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, how can it be heaven if my passed pets aren't there.
DeleteGreat story WC.
People who have had NDEs (Near Death Experiences) have said that ALL of the pets that have passed on greet them when they reach the afterlife and await their final reunion when the person has passed on. The love that you have showered them with will be returned many times over.

DeleteMy eyes definitely clouded up on this one. I love dogs so much!
ReplyDeleteWasn't there a Country Song about a Boy wanting a ride in a Truck, and there being a long line of Truckers willing to give him a ride?
