“Buckskin Frank” Leslie

A western gunfighter, Indian Scout, and prospector, “Buckskin Frank” Leslie was best known for having killed Billy Claiborne, one of the infamous Clanton Gang, who feuded with the Earps in Tombstone, Arizona.

Born in San Antonio, Texas, on March 18, 1842, as Nashville Franklyn Leslie, nothing is known about his early life.

He was working as a scout for the U.S. Army in Texas, Oklahoma, and the Dakotas during the early 1870s and was always seen wearing a buckskin jacket, hence the nickname “Buckskin Frank.” He later made his way to San Francisco, where he worked as a bartender.

  1. Amazing how hard a life these people led, and lived so long...

  2. I don't know if it was the rockgut whiskey they had back then or if these people were just a whole different kind but it's clear they could not fit in polite society
Also I don't understand the worship of the Earps. They were just as dirty as every other outlaw of the time, they just got better write ups in the dime novels
