I was 15 years old at the Fox theater in Atlanta in 76. I sort of remember most of the first hour. Me and my buddies woke up about 11 the next morning in the parking lot with a couple of girls. Nobody knew what happened after the first hour.
ReplyDeleteI've seen them numerous times but only once with the mostly original lineup, well not with Ed King... They've always put on a great show through the years and various challenges and tragedies in the band's history
DeleteWhat song do you want to hear.....
JD
I saw them twice in 1971 & 1972 when I was living in Jax. Ronnie, Bobby, Leon, Gary & Allan .
ReplyDeleteI saw them in Columbus GA just a few months before their plane went down.
DeleteYeah, I saw them 2 or 3 times about 1973-1975. They would sometimes tour with Marshall Tucker, or MT and Charlie Daniels, and all the band members would come out at the end and play "Will The Circle Be Unbroken", or maybe it was "Amazing Grace". Hard to remember after 50 years.
ReplyDeleteTo my mind, Lynyrd Skynyrd were the dangerous guys who were a blast to hang out with, but you knew the cops were going to be involved before it was over. Marshall Tucker were kind of like your older brother's friends, and The Allman Brothers Band were professionals, and you were never going to have that kind of talent.
Hard to believe it's been that long...
Great Tunes! Thanks for sharing. Good old days.
ReplyDeleteHeard them at Orange Show Stadium in San Berdoo in '75, and again at UC Santa Barbara in '76...still the best concerts I've ever been too...
