#5, yeah. my old dog Slim went after my neighbor one time when he picked up his little girl and she started to cry. Gary told me later on he was about to piss himself as he never saw Slim get like that before. once he put her down, Slim got between him and his kid. I had to go over and drag his ass back home. although his wife told me later on that she never worried about her girls when Slim was out back with them. after that little bit, he used to call me to come get "my dog" so he could bring in HIS kids. his wife had no problems with Slim at all. don't know why or how, but Slim did look after his kids or any little kids now that I think about it. dave in pa.
We had a Great Dane growing up, and my mom to this day talks about how she was never worried about my brother or me when the dog was around and she wasn't. One time some old guy apparently tried to stick his arm into the car and pat one of our heads or some such, and he nearly lost that arm.
#9. An impact wrench probably would’ve taken that nut off considering there was no rust on the threads. When the nut is hopelessly rusted onto the stud, I’ve used a nut splitter. But I don’t have a fancy hydraulic one like that.
ATF and MEK overnight after getting the paint out of the way; impact; heat, then repeat the first two; five foot breaker bar; nutsplitter. In that order. Rarely have to go beyond step 3. NEVER get to the nutsplitter, because the stud twists off at step 4.

ReplyDeleteI've always used heat before resorting to a nut splitter. Works on rust too if it's not too far gone.
