It doesnt seem right to me to put charges on a guy who’s clearly whacky. May be if we hadnt shut down all the psych facilities we could get people off the streets without criminalizing them.
Our local Walmart started out as 24 hours, didn't last. Story was that they were having excessive losses due to shoplifting. After they started closing the store from 10p-6a, wouldn't you know, the losses increased. Turns out that customers walking around the store late at night kept the thieves that worked there from completely gutting the place. The local businesses folded shortly after Walmart moved in and set up shop. So now they are the only game in town, and going there feels like a trip to third world hell
They built a new Wal Mart in our area that was open all night and about 2 weeks after opening "they" went in there and set it on fire at 4 in the morning.
We always have to look at the alternatives. Which situation would you rather be involved in. 1- Being chased all over a Walmart by a naked negro who plans on planting his 9-inch dick in your pooper or 2- Being naked, locked in a small room, tied nose to pussy with Whoopi Goldberg who hadn't eaten in a week and just overdosed on Spanish Fly?
I'm armed from the moment I get out of bed until the moment I crawl back in so it's a safe bet that I've never been to our Walmart without a gun. I do make my store runs no later than 9am, but it's mostly to avoid everybody else. Not that they're assholes, but because I can't stand shopping in general and Walmart in particular. If the Piggly Wiggly has what I need, I go there instead.
The 24 hour Walmarts in my city disappeared with the 2020 lockdowns and never came back. One was super handy for an emergency plunger purchase in 2017 in my new townhouse, and I made maybe three other trips after that. My sleep schedule is more sane now so I don't miss having them, but the option was convenient to have.

We've got 24 hour Walmarts in East Texas. But our culture doesn't accept behavior like that in public.

Used to tell my kids very few good things happen after mid night. Just such events crystallize that thought.
