Cellmate: "Ain't none of my business"

A former lieutenant at Tennessee's troubled Trousdale Turner Correctional Center said he discovered the decomposing body of an inmate who had been dead for three days, despite guards having counted the prisoner as alive through as many as 18 separate inmate counts.

Graves said he contacted then-Captain Jermaris Porter, and the two entered Echo Unit, where the smell of decomposition led them to a cell. Inside, he said, one inmate sat on the lower bunk eating and watching television while another lay motionless above him. Graves said he attempted chest compressions to revive the man.
