But how are they going to spot the retards on the road now?

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Among a list of 11 North Carolina bills Gov. Roy Cooper signed into law last week was one generically called “Restrict Certain Vehicle Modifications.”

The inconspicuous new law, also called House Bill 692, will essentially do away with a polarizing (and some say dangerous) height adjustment of pickup trucks called the “Carolina Squat.”

  1. so that's where that idiot looking crap came from. seeing a few of them around here now. idiots can't see over the damn hood. the pic in the article isn't even close to how the squatters are here.

  2. These guys with the squat remind me of a dog dragging its butt across the floor to scratch its ass. And there are plenty of these retards here in Western North Carolina.

  3. Driven a pickup exclusively for probably near fifty years. I use em, I work em. Never had a tricked out, Look at Me, pickup in my life. I don't baby them but do wash them once er twice a year if they need it. Admittedly if I lived way north I'd wash more often in the winter to get the damn salt and road chemicals off. However, I don't live in the North. To me all this tricking out shit is desecration of a mighty fine piece of equipment.

  4. I guess this law would also make it illegal for a stock half ton pickup to haul a half ton of aggregate.

  5. Does not the Constitution require that all of the States must honor each other's laws? Therefore this particular piece of political scatology must apply only to those vehicles with local license plates. If I lived just across the state line where such mods were not restricte, and were I mentally challenged enough to do that to a working vehicle, I do believe I'd seek others in my peer group and organize a cross-border convoy on a recurring basis.

  6. A Law(TM) against idiocy? Cheered on by the general suffrage cream of the idocracy?

  7. I had never seen (or at least noticed) one of these stupid looking trucks before until I ran into a convention of them in Daytona Beach last year over the Labor Day holiday, when there were hundreds of them cruising up and down the strip. Not all of them were "Carolina squats" but the majority of them were. From what I saw, few if any of the occupants were old enough to legally drink a beer yet they somehow found the money for a $70K new truck and another $30-40K worth of "improvements" such as wheels, oversized tires, light kits, 1000 watt sound systems, custom paint jobs and other tricked out mods. After I stopped laughing at how stupid they all looked, I wondered, "Where the hell does an 18 year old kid get $100K for this waste of money?" He didn't get it flipping burgers that's for sure. Good old dad I suppose. Do a Youtube search for "Truck week Daytona" if you want a good laugh.

  8. When I saw S. Carolina squat, I pictured a redneck out in a field taking a dump.

  9. As riverrider said, the pic in the article doesn't really do it justice. I was thinking the "squat" was just fat tires beyond the fender. People have been doing that forever. The article says that the law states: The new law says that a vehicle would be violating the law “if the suspension, frame, or chassis, the height of the front fender is 4 or more inches greater than the height of the rear fender.” --Boy, I guess nobody will ever be able to 'skirt' that law!
