So I can get back up to the mountains for some naps on warm days after the fishing slows for the afternoon.
This is the north fork of the Stanislaus, about 6000 feet elevation. Not many fish to fuck up a day of fucking off, but a beautiful place for some relaxing.
How far past Boards Crossing or Sourgrass?
ReplyDeleteLooks peacefull, I do miss a babbling brook. Waiting on spring here, I found some dive boots/shoes that will make it possible for me to walk on sand. This year I will beach. I also talked my friends into a fishing trip. We shall see.
ReplyDeleteI could sit by that magnificent stream for hours and hours, just taking in the incredible beauty of the spot.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting that pic!

My God, that's beautiful. I love Texas but the creeks around here are all muddy.
ReplyDeleteMan, I think I see some trout that would take a fly, right behind.... that rock.....

Beautiful. I just looked out my porthole at the thermometer on deck on my boat. The temperature? 1. I may shoot myself.
ReplyDeleteI love that country as well. I spent a summer working on the EIS for the proposed hydo project on the Toulumne doing fishery work. Congress finally named it a Wild and Scenic River after the first year of the research. The project was nixed as a result. Congress can actually do good things once in awhile. This photo looks like the South fork, or the Clavey. Ever go to the T just below the Reservoir? The water comes out of the bottom of the dam and it's cold as hell. Incredible cataracts in the bedrock, and tons of huge brown trout! Lots of rattlers and poison oak too! I'm immune to both now!
ReplyDeleteLook's like a place where I used to trout fish up in the boonies years ago. The average slob was to lazy or out of shape to hump up in there , so the streams were packed with fish. Not the lazy hatchery bred fish, these bastards were almost black from having spent the winters up there. " Natives " we used to call them . Fry em in bacon grease , in a small cast iron pan over a camp fire , Not even Cesar Obama ever had it that good . Oscar !.
