My Monday

I had a nice visit today with a new old friend - or maybe it's an old new friend - I don't know. Whatever. Anyways, this was the first time he had been over to the house and when he walked in he let me know he was armed and offered to surrender his firearm (big points there, man) and was told to keep it, then the first words out of his mouth was "Wow. I can't believe it. Here I am in Wirecutter Central!"
Then he got himself in trouble, with Lisa anyways. He opened up the box he brought in and proceeded to give me a gift - a set-up to start casting my own bullets. As compulsive as I am, he just cost me several hundred dollars (buying more shit) and the time that it takes to do it.
As a side note, he got to meet the infamous CharlieGodammit too and didn't even get bit. Yeah, I don't know what the hell is wrong with that dog. Kinda glad though - not just because I didn't have to clean up a bloody floor but also because I trust the dog. If CGD didn't like him I'd have to go find a new friend.
So it was a good day. So far. It still has the potential to go bad - it is Monday, after all.

Okay, seriously people, stop feeding his ego. I'm sure Miss Lisa would appreciate it.

  5. Hahahahaha, yall crack me up! Glad you had fun, too bad there is an entire continent between us, I feel the urge to deplete some stock this coming weekend, would love to have you and Miss Lisa along. Oh, and CGD as long as he is fed first, can't have him snacking on my Datsun my Grand Daughter would be quite miffed.

  6. Odd friend. Back in the day, any of my friends would have been suspect if they weren't carrying something. The only time it was brought up is when one of them got a new one and had to show it off, which was about once a week.

  7. Not odd, respectful. I assumed he was armed, as was I. When a man comes into my house he's under my protection, but also as a sign of respect on my part he was allowed to keep his firearm. I appreciated his gesture, and really, that's all it was. He knew he'd be allowed in with his pistol.
I also don't expect him to offer it up next time he comes over, he knows the rules.
He didn't mention his tac knives, they only came up when he noticed mine.

  8. It's an old-fashioned show of respect and courtesy. Like asking for a lady's hand in marriage. Those touches of grace that made society work. I miss them.

A profound truth that explains much of what has gone wrong. I miss the America that I grew up in.
