#3 - that's pretty much what I asked my mother when she told me that the day after I left to go in the Army she found my dad sitting on his bed crying and saying, "I miss my son". All he ever did was bitch at me and sneer at me and beat me and call me shitty names. The worst part was that he was oblivious to his own behavior. As far as he was concerned he was THE Dad of all time and did everything right as a father. Hence his crying.
