California to outlaw BB guns in 3... 2... 1...

Prosecutors filed 15 charges Wednesday against a 19-year-old La Habra man for his alleged role in what police described as a “mass vandalism spree” in which dozens of car windows were shattered with BBs in Whittier earlier this year.

Christian Brian Peña, 19, faces 10 counts of vandalism with a value under $400, four counts of discharging a BB gun with gross negligence and one count of resisting arrest, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. All the charges are misdemeanors.

  1. Maybe taking out the windows for quicker access to interior contents for boosting (stealing). I'm sure due to desperation of current job figures, petty crime is going to skyrocket. And summer hasn't even begun yet - kids are antsy already due to lock down.

  2. If Mr. Pena had had just broken the windows five-fingered stuff, there might have not been any charges.

  3. You mean you can "shatter" a windshield with a BB gun? Chip? - yeah I can see that. But "shatter"? A bit of journalistic overkill, methink...
