Ever Hear of the Alofs Conversion?

Back in 1923 Herman Alofs of Holland, Michigan invented a conversion that would turn an ordinary single shot shotgun into a magazine fed repeating shotgun. While interesting this creation just never made it to the big leagues.

In this video we witness how it all works in great detail. The Alofs Conversion is mounted on the left side of the shotgun’s receiver. The magazine tube holds spare shells at the ready and the carrier moves to the right to feed the cartridges right into the shotgun’s chamber. Close the action and cock the hammer. You are ready for another shot quickly.

  1. I am about a half hour North of Holland, Michigan. They are also famous for their Tulip festival each spring. Alas, not this year. Vivid 19, you know.
The radio said that we should not even drive there to see the Tulips that were in bloom.
I am normally a patient guy. But I am tired of reading things from friends on Facebook saying that a barber should be jailed for cutting hair, or how they are able to get unemployment benefits for small businesses. Hell, even people who are laid off are having trouble getting their unemployment benefits.
I have now reached the she where I am concerned with the kind of America that I am leaving to my grandkids. And as much as it sucks to say it, I will fight for the America that they deserve. One thing is for certain, I won't be alone.

  3. Chances are the conversion cost more than the shotgun. It most likely didn't catch on because most people that could afford it would rather buy an autoloader directly.

That said, my uncle with a single shot would place 2 extra shells between the fingers of his shooting hand. He could fire and reload three rounds with that single shot faster than I could work a pump action. That was a sight to see.

    1. Brother of a classmate was quick like that. Three shells in the fingers and one in the tube. Made idiots of the game wardens who thought he had an unplugged auto loader shooting ducks
