Former MPD Officer Derek Chauvin Has Been Taken Into Custody In George Floyd’s Death

MINNEAPOLIS (WCCO) — Fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been arrested four days after George Floyd’s fatal arrest that sparked protests, rioting and outcry across the city and nation.

On Friday, John Harrington, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Public Safety, announced that Chauvin was taken into custody by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.

  1. On a related note, has anyone heard if John Rieple, the pawn shop owner that was arrested for shooting a looter, has a way to donate to his legal defense? He needs to not do time for doing what the city and guard should have. Keep the peace.

  2. Regardless of what you think about this whole thing, even former officer Derek Chauvin deserves a fair trial. He won't get one though, because the case is now very high profile and political. If he had been black, or Floyd had been white, this thing would have never even made the news.
