  6. And yet another reason that I don't ride motorcycles. I know that millions ride them each year, with no problems. But if you pin them down on it, pretty much every serious motorcycle driver has his or her own story of the time that they had to " lay it down" or they had to do a weird or sudden maneuver in order to avoid hitting or being hit by another car or motorcycle, or a semi truck, etc.
It is quite nearly universal a rite of passage with all those who ride motorcycles more than a couple hundred miles a year, that are going to spend any serious amount of time on their bikes each year, are going to eventually have an incident of some kind, that those who drive a car simply would not even be phased by it. For example, a car driver won't be too concerned if the back wheels slip on wet pavement, while the motorcycle rider will be scared too death. It doesn't seem to make any difference if they have extra safety equipment or not on themselves, the fear is just going to hit the rider of the bike, no matter whether it was their problem or not. Because the facts are, the driver of the car knows that people will assume that the accident was somehow related to the driver of the car, and it will be hard to ignore the disparity of the size of the two vehicles involved.

  7. Been riding for over 35 yrs. I have gone down 3 times, luckily there was more damage to me than the bike. But like a horse you got to get back on. If you are not scared then you are a fool. But to each is own, I can understand not wanting to ride because of the extra caution, but you need to ride offensively not defense, you need to be looking far ahead and looking for ways out of different situations but enjoy the ride!!!
