You can tell they ain't from around there

Nearly $1 million in cash was dumped on a Central California road during a police chase that ended with the arrests of two New York men who apparently planned to buy marijuana with the money, the California Highway Patrol said.

Frank Capraro, 23, and Desmond McDay, 25, both of Medford, were arrested Friday evening, the Merced Sun-Star reported.

You can tell they ain't from around there because anybody and everybody knows you don't run drugs up and down I-5 seeing as it's heavily patrolled just for that reason.
Pro tip: Use Highway 99 if you have to, but 33 is much better. Be especially careful around Los Banos though - there's a heavy CHP presence there. Keep your speed 5 mph above the speed limit and you'll be fine - any faster and you'll get pulled over for speeding and any slower you'll get pulled over for acting like the mule you are.

  1. And a couple more -
Be sure all of your lights work. Check them often.
Make sure your registration, license tag and proof of insurance are all up to date.

Just a couple of tips I learned from an old California marijuana runner I know.

    1. I should probably re-run that TCB Car post, huh?
I still check my lights every time I climb in the truck after dark just out of habit.

  3. And don't wear pot-inspired clothing. Seriously, leave the Bob Marley shirt at home, along with the pot-leaf socks and underwear.

Dress 'normally.' Drive like the people around you. Don't stand out.

  4. Oh, and don't put limo tint on your front windows or your windshield.

And don't hang anything from the rear view mirror.

Seriously. Those two things right there get people pulled over more than lights not working.

    ESPECIALLY don't have a pot-leaf air-freshener. That's just asking for it.

    1. I've got a Hoppe's #9 air freshener hanging from my mirror. While the scent is long gone, it looks cool so it stays there. I had a local cop in the parking lot of a store complement me on it once.

  5. I can never get over the concept of making sure you are driving OVER the speed limit because... you'll get pulled over for OBEYING the law! WTFF? While my contention has always been speed limits are unconstitutional for several reasons, I stay close to them because I do not want the hassle of fighting speeding tickets.

    1. The hassle and EXPENSE. I find it incredible that people on the low end of the income scale take chances doing stupid things like speeding or trying to make it through that light before it changes when paying the fine for getting cited might cost them several days wages. It's just not worth taking the chance, IMHO.

    2. Because EVERYBODY drives a little over the speed limit. If you're driving right at the speed limit, it looks like you're making a conscience effort to not get pulled over.
Anytime I get behind a driver that's going below the speed limit I assume either his speedometer is broken or he's got warrants.
Also, the speedometer on every vehicle I've ever driven past one of those snitch signs that posts your speed for you to see is just a little bit off, usually by 3 mph to my favor. If it reads 35 mph, it means I'm driving 32.

Myself, I stick within 5 mph of the speed limits just because a speeding ticket isn't in my very limited budget, and I haven't had a ticket since 1992 or 93.

    3. When I see a go-fast car going the speed limit, whether it be a Mustang, Corvette, Camaro, Challenger or BMW, Jag, or Mercedes -- I wonder what they are up to.

Stay with the flow of traffic - even if traffic is going 15 over, which is normal on the interstate around here.
