Executive Order Takes Aim at Leftist Tech Giants’ Censorship of Conservatives

After years of warning, President Donald Trump took action Thursday in the form of an Executive Order to remove a key protection companies like Twitter, Facebook, and Google enjoy that shields the tech giants from lawsuits by individuals and other entities with claims of bias, censorship, and otherwise unfair treatment.

The Order, titled “Executive Order on Preventing Online Censorship” comes two days after Twitter added a controversial “fact-check” of two of his tweets about fraud and absentee ballots, NPR reported.

  1. I'd like to see some legislation regarding news outlets spewing out fake news and rumor. The internet "platforms" and some left-wing cable channels spew fake news and propaganda to support their "agenda", and agenda that's not good for red-blooded Americans.
And isn't it amazing how the dems present us with one agenda after another? 1. Russia collusion, 2. Impeachment, 3. Pandemic, 4. Riots and civil unrest. Makes ya wonder what they'll come up with next!

  2. The government may not force a newspaper to publish opinions counter to the newspaper's owners. A Christian publication may not be forced to publish Satanist literature. Freedom of the press belongs to the owner of the press. Read newspapers from the 19th century for examples of fake news.

    1. Good point. However, it's also a good thing that social media finally has some skin in the game, so to speak. As one that's gone into Facebook jail multiple times, it'll be good to see a little squirming on their part.

    2. I think the logic of the Executive Order is that once a platform starts censoring content, then they're responsible for all content posted.

  4. Sorry for being a little off topic, but it’s related:

Is it just me or have people come to believe that all news outlets are ‘legally bound’ to carry the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?

I was always taught that ALL writers have an agenda. It is the readers responsibility to be aware of that and take it into account. It has alway been this way - even Thomas Jefferson complained of newspapers of his day not being reliable sources!

Whenever possible, get your news from multiple sources and try to discern what the truth is. Look for what a source says - and DOES’T day (or cover!). Yes, it’s more work - but such is the price of being an informed citizen.
