"No thanks, I'll just walk - it'll be faster"

As DC begins reopening today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced that the city will lower the default speed limit on local roads to 20 MPH, down from 25. The change will go into effect on Monday, June 1.

“One thing that we have for sure learned with less traffic on the street is that people are driving faster, and we see it all over,” Bowser said in a press conference. “While it may seem like a small change, we know that surviving accidents is strongly correlated to speed, and lowering the speed limit will help us keep people safe.”

  1. Actually knew a guy we called Hound Dog. He'd be walking down the street long strides. If ya stopped and asked if he wanted ride he would say, "No thanks, I'm in a hurry."

  3. Gawd, please inspire Biden to select Bowser as his VP. She's has no political baggage and her G2 is in harmony with Slow Joe. They'd be Frick 'n Frack of the political season.

  4. With any possible future "protests" blocking the roads... no, babe, it's the faster the better.

(God I hope no one in my family/friends gets their 15 minutes of fame, myself including. But damn...)

  5. Lowering the speed limit from 25 to 20 will save lives.
If that isn't a perfect example of liberal logic I don't know what is.

    1. "25 is safe but people are speeding so we'll lower it to 20."

  6. The lights are completely off. Even without traffic you can't get to 25 anyway! She's just cranking up the camera tickets to make up for the 50% of the population being service industry and being laid off. Someone has to pay taxes!

    1. With that kind of logic, why don’t we lower the speed limit to ZERO!

  8. This is the kind of idiocy that passes for political leadership here in metro DC area. Don't get me started on the shitstain of a Governor we have here in VA.
