Kansas soldier uses vehicle to stop active shooter

LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (WDAF) — An active-duty soldier at Fort Leavenworth in Kansas is being hailed as a hero after police say he saved multiple lives by ending an active shooting Wednesday morning.

Leavenworth Police Chief Patrick Kitchens said officers were called to the Centennial Bridge at 11 a.m. for a report of shots fired that was originally reported as a result of road rage. When officers arrived they found one man with a gunshot wound and another man trapped under a car. Emergency crews took both to a Kansas City hospital with serious injuries.

Back in the mid 1990s there was a sudden rash of carjackings in west Modesto where these thugs would step out in front of a moving vehicle with a gun, then yanking the drivers out and stealing their wallets and vehicles - and people were actually stopping for them!
I thought it was funnier than hell. I always said if people thought a 45 ACP had some stopping power, wait until they ran up against my 87 ACP - 1987 Automatic Chevy Pickup.

  1. Cleveland, Ohio had the carjacking thing for a short while until a rash of acute lead poisonings occurred in the same general area as the carjackings.
I mean, it could have been coincidence, but I don't know...

  2. hmmm. A 7000 pound truck at 25 miles per hour has about 128,000 foot pounds of energy. 230 gr hardball doesn't look nearly as impressive. Of course the .45 has easier follow-up if you miss.

  3. Not a 'hero'.
He put on the uniform after giving his word by pledging his oath.
We pay him to do this job.
    Anything less is treason.
