Georgia governor bans cities, counties from mandating masks

Republican Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp issued an executive order Wednesday prohibiting local municipalities from establishing mask mandates for people who go out in public.

His order prevents any municipality from enforcing a mask order that is more restrictive than the one at the state level, The Hill reported.

  1. Gov Kemp is currently on the news giving a "State of the Covid-19" address. It looks like he just got back from the beach.

Kemp slipped through. He has been in GA politics of almost 20 years. Hopefully he will step down and be a one term governor.

    2. You're kidding right? This dude is knocking the liberals left and right. He tried to play nice with them (the mayors) but they don't seem to "know their place" in the hierarchy of the state. And FWIW, the mask issue is not the major issue for the suit. It's the cities thinking they can go backwards on the shut down and force the restaurants, stores etc. to shut down without the backing of the state government. They (again, the mayors, all of whom just happen to be dims/lib/socialists-coincidence, I think not) do not have the legal ability to overreach the way they're doing. And he will win. We're Georgia. Not a bunch of panty waisted, light in the loafers, soy boy millenials fearing for our lives indoors for a flu on steroids. Our lives will go on.

  2. Virginia is doing just the opposite and doubling down on stupid. But that's what Ralph "Blackface" Northam does best.

  3. Proud of him. Driving the Democrats crazy. Keep up the good work. I'm tentatively forgiving him for appointing Loeffler who is behaving until the election.

  5. I thought TN might push back against this madness. But nope our Governor passed the buck to Counties and I live in Robertson, which contains Nashville. And the Mayor didn't waste a minute mandating masks. Yet there's still been no practical studies proving that masks worn by healthy people can even reduce the spread of communicable diseases or if such a large scale change might have a negative impact on overall health. And I keep hearing that a lot of Dr.s offices will no longer issue notes for medical conditions even for established patients. So in practice these orders seem to be putting people's health at risk because the so called "exceptions" for respiratory illnesses are effectively useless.
