I drove a 1964 Chevy C-20 for years that had a metal steering wheel. It took me exactly one hot day in the California Central Valley summer to go down and buy a steering wheel cover.
Those chain steering wheels were bad about the chrome chipping of and embedding in your hands, friend had one in his car for about 6 months before it happened to him, he got rid of it the next day!!!! Grayman
I used to drive my Dad's '61 C20 with a 500 gallon slop tank on the back to school. But our "consolidated" school was in the middle of a cornfield, so no one even noticed.
That is a trueism for that valley in summer.
ReplyDeleteLove those black cars. 2nd degree burns for sure when it is 104*F or 40*C.
Heltau
Ditto my 62 Ford Sunliner top down parked in the blazing sun. Hopping in equals baked balls.
ReplyDeleteI had a black truck........Once!
ReplyDeleteOh you guys.... Bitch, bitch, bitch. When its winter you bitch about the cold. When its summer you bitch about the heat.
