  2. Decades before I met Ol' Remus, these "festivals" looked like real good places to avoid.

  3. Joni was one of the first if not THE first to span the musical bridge between folk and Jazz. She gained the respect of the jazz community. Her earlier music remains as much of the theme of the 60s and 70s which were the greatest period of musical innovation in the history of the world. In my opinion. One more think about Joni ... she could sing and she had what seemed like a five octave range.

  4. Someone told me there’s a girl out there with love in her eyes and flowers in her hair......

  5. I'm an old guy and Joni is part of the soundtrack of my life. There are soft mornings in San Diego before the fog burns off that her music fits right in...heck I have a 12 CD player that has at least 2 of her selections....well, along with Thorogood, AC-DC, Buffett, CSN (no Y), Marley, Traffic, Allman Bros and Sinatra. All over the place but makes a good background for futzing around the house...But Joni, voice of an angel.

  6. Jackson Browne's song "That girl could sing" is about Joni and I believe they were dating at one point.

  10. According to his semi-authorized biography, David Geffen fronted her a million dollars about this time for her next album.

According to him, she 'dropped' the whole million while renting a mansion up Laurel Canyon... and stiffed him on the album.

The 'owner' of the Eagles and Crosby, Stills, and Nash, among many other performers, you might remember Geffen from such hits as "I'm quarantined on my 326' yacht in the Caribbean."

Geffen along with Spielberg and Katzenberg are DreamWorks SKG, and are reported to be worth approximately twenty-four billion (with a 'B') dollars.
In Hollywood, very little gets made without their approval.

    Joni, good for you!

  11. Starting about 1968 I was 14 and working nights with a bunch of 18-19 year old guys which lead to a 14yr old breaking the law like I was 19, booze, drugs and carousing at 3am. Led Zep was the soundtrack to those dark days.
I've never listened to a Joni Mitchel song, maybe it is time for discovery. Where do I start?

  12. “Court and Spark” was her high water mark.
