Any Chicago area readers out there?

CHICAGO — Demonstrators are planning to shut down the Dan Ryan Expressway on Saturday to protest police brutality.

Organizers have been meeting with law enforcement for weeks to coordinate the march.

The demonstration will start at 12 p.m. Saturday at Robert Taylor Park, near 47th and Federal, before heading north on the Dan Ryan.

  1. Wait a minute, coordination with the city police to shut down part of a federal interstate? I'd say its a bit early to hook up the snow plow but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

    2. Just remember, one plow per lane and stagger the blades to clear it all to the side.

    4. There's another demonstration planned a little further west in a park near Pershing Road and Damen Avenue around 2:00. One of my clients has a business near there, and they got a heads-up call from the CPD.

Bridgeport is not one of the bloodiest on the south side, but considering the atmosphere, I expect trouble.

  2. To heck with the local readers.......are there any local motorcycle clubs near there? You know the time and place. Have fun, boys.

  3. terrorists coordinate with the cops. So it's A-OK to stop traffic on a highway. On the other hand the cops will give an honest citizen a summons for going a few miles an hour to meet their quota.

  4. So if I were a sniper (which I am not...anymore) and IF I had evil intentions (which I don't...anymore), I would be tempted to scout out high elevation locales within 300 yards of said expressway, with easy exit and escape routes...and....ah, never mind.

  5. Aiding & Abetting Criminals . . .
I hope the criminals understand that self-defense, even when they're cops, is both legal and lawful.

  6. I'd say, break out the crop dusters and spray with "EZ-4". And no way in hell should LEO "co-ordinate" with these gangsters.

    1. Don't know what EZ-4 is, but i betcha wd40 would work like a charm with a few thousand tons dropped on them.

  7. The Dan Ryan is the major expressway into Chicago from the south. There's no way Chicago and the State Police should allow "protesters" to shut it down. They should bring in the garbage trucks, surround them and haul them off to jail. If they want to protest Chicago's got plenty of parks (Chicago's motto is "Urbs in Horto" - City in a garden), there's Daley Center outside City Hall, The plaza outside the federal buildings. Can a federal prosecutor come down on Mayor Lightfoot and the State Police responsible for aiding and abetting what's sure to be chaos?

  8. "Organizers have been meeting with law enforcement for weeks to coordinate the march."

Which begs the question "WTF are the cops doing/thinking?"

These "people" (I use that term loosely) are fookin' TERRORISTS and should be treated accordingly.

Why haven't they bagged and tagged these "organizers" and put them in a hole so deep you'd have to pipe them light?

  9. Remember the Gasoline Tanker Truck in Minneapolis that accidentally almost drove through the crowd of of protesters on I-35W in Minneapolis on Saturday May 30?

I hope nothing like that happens in Chicago.

What was it Mel Gibson said in that Christmas movie?
Can't wish for an ArcLight, after all, other people use the Dan Ryan.

  10. I live 25 miles away, but rarely drive that way. Advance notice is much better than a semi-tractor crash blocking all lanes of an expressway, which happened a week ago. If I know what's happening I can avoid it because there are alternate routes. I may not like the protest, but I have to be OK with a truly peaceful protest because the right of assembly is protected in the Constitution, same as the right to bear arms.

The riots and looting must be stopped, but the Governor won't send in the National Guard until it's too late. After $2 billion is looted and burned, he'll call up the Guard and say he saved the city.

    1. Right of assembly does not mean right of assembly anywhere. It is not reasonable to shut down a major interstate (the Dan Ryan is both I-90 and I-94 in that stretch). The highway is the property of the State of Illinois, not of Chicago, so Lori Lightfoot does not have precedence there. And shame on the Illinois govt and the Illinois State Troopers for going along with this farce.

That aside, do you really believe it will be a peaceful event? Past behavior is the best predictor of future actions. And how is it relevant that you rarely drive that way? This is about savages (and their not-so-shadowy handlers who guide and finance them) using the tools of civilized, orderly, people to bring down civilization. These people contribute nothing. They only take. We owe them nothing.

  14. Get a line of giant snowcutters that block the road curb to curb Use the cops to hold the protester on the radd and turn the Snowcutters loose Fountains of red mush that used to be people sends the correct message to prospective rioters
