ANZAC Action in the Vietnam War

  1. Everybody had their Nam. I look at some of these flicks and I think what ta hell? They are clean with nice boots and clothes. Myself when in the bush which was most the time I was filthy. My boots full of holes as well as my tee shirt. Prolly had a streak of blood and shit from the back belt loop to the bottom of the front fly hole. Jungle rot spots here and there which they painted with some purple shit. I never see anybody with this crap painted on their arms or faces. Sure if we had the time and found a river we would bathe and wash clothes but the rivers run brown so ya didn't get too clean. I just find it odd when I see people near spit shined compared to what my team looked like. More I think about it I never saw a reporter where I was.

  2. Sir, An Australian band from the 80s called Redgum has several songs about Viet Nam from the Australian perspective. Suggest you listen to "I Was only 19" and "Khe San " or Long Tam", "Every Anzac Day" and "Safe Behind the Wire". Seems thier veterans of Viet Nam were trated as poorly as ours.

    1. To be sure, I am not belittling the Australian. I think the world of them and pulled my R&R there. Kings Cross and stayed at the New Yorker Hotel. Wonderful folks. I'm referring to all films I see of Nam. Be them American or otherwise. They just don't look as scruffy as my bunch did. I see long sleeved shirts. Never wore one. We wore as little as possible.

  3. Worst part, and yes it's going to sound racist but I don't care and I don't care if publish it or not Ken. This and other goverments are letting the Communists take over Australia economically and financially, the communists that were hiding behind the Vietnamese.
