The most recent report from the Army on street and outlaw motorcycle gang activity in the ranks shows both trending upward, while incidents of domestic extremism remain roughly constant.
An internal report, obtained by Military.com through a Freedom of Information Act request, shows that gang members were tied to dozens of Army felony law enforcement reports and more than 100 criminal investigations in fiscal 2018, the latest year for which data is available. While these reports and investigations make up less than 1% of all Army law enforcement incidents, the new report shows that the little-discussed problem of military gang activity continues to be a headache for base commanders and other service leaders.

My son told me gangs were sending guys into the military for weapons and combat training. Most seemed to get discharged before they were shipped to OEF, OIF... But some road the whole trip but didn't reenlist.
ReplyDeleteI thought about that when that guy shot up the police in Dallas a few years back.
The gangs strategy is to get members trained in combat tactics for free by Uncle. They then have a big edge on ordinary schleps when the black flag goes up.

Typical obfuscating bullshit. Bloods and Crips derivatives (read: blacks) are the biggest problem but gotta emphasize that the whites are doing something wrong, too. Don't want any "disproportionality" in the reportin, y'see.
ReplyDeleteThat's not even a real word but all the sharp heads use it to explain away blacks being more violent and criminal than whites.
Curiously no mention of demographics or other important statistics, only veiled references to a few artificially-high-profile cases where political opinions, or historical flags, were deemed more scary than actual violence. Almost like there is an agenda.
ReplyDeleteMore empire collapse. Please, chase the actual warfighters out of the ranks faster while loading up on quota jockeys and actual gang members.
At least this is fresh news.
ReplyDeleteIt is 2013, right?

“There has been a persistent gang problem in the military for the past six to eight years,” Burton said, adding that cartels greatly value trained soldiers from the U.S., Mexico and Guatemala as sicarios – hit men.
I don't know about street gangs but motorcycle club membership has always had a strong veteran presence. Going all the way back to WW2 the Booze Fighters and Pissed off Bastards were veterans, HA, Bandidos, Outlaws, Warlocks as well as many not so well known clubs were all started by military veterans.
ReplyDeleteWhat I find interesting is that the writer tries to tie clubs, which traditionally white men, to gang bangers, radical Islam extremists, which traditionally are not white.
There are rare occasions that clubs, outlaw or not, end up in the news for committing some type of crime but it's not the norm where bangers and extremists seem to be a daily event. So it's mostly just a bullshit piece.
