According to the New York Post, the mayor's administration is now facing criticisms of favouritism and for disenfranchising New Yorkers of their First Amendment rights for refusing to give the go-ahead to other proposals.

Don't play their game. It's not a mural, it's graffiti. It's partisan, state-sponsored graffiti. Letting them control the language makes it easier for them to control everything else.
