Piling on the charges hoping something, anything, will stick

KENOSHA, Wis. (CNN) — The suspect in the Kenosha, Wisconsin, fatal shooting is facing multiple homicide charges, court records show.

Kyle Rittenhouse, 17, is accused of a single shooting incident during a night of unrest in Kenosha earlier this week that left two people dead and a third person seriously injured, authorities have said.

Since his arrest on Wednesday, the Antioch, Illinois, teenager had been charged with first-degree intentional homicide, Antioch Police said.

Prosecutors filed more charges against Rittenhouse on Thursday, adding one count of reckless homicide, a count for attempted intentional homicide and two counts of recklessly endangering safety.

Court records show he’s also being charged with possession of a dangerous weapon while under the age of 18, which is a misdemeanor.

  1. The rioters and looters are the ones who should be locked up. This kid was trying to protect his place of employment. Glad to hear that Nick Sandmann's lawyer has taken his case pro bono (free).

    1. Excellent news. But it's still going to cost Rittenhouse (or his family) plenty of money, especially if the pro bono representation is just for the criminal charges. You just KNOW there are going to be civil suits as well. If there is a credible fundraiser for Rittenhouse's defense I'll toss a few bucks his way.

    2. The same lawyer that represented the Covington kid has taken the case pro bono. Unfortunately from what I have heard every attempt to get a fundraiser up ( GoFundMe, ECT) has been squashed by the fundraising companies/websites.

    3. Lin Wood is on top of it. He is coordinating the defense team, and will tackle the civil portion. By the time he is done, Rittenhouse will be a wealthy young man.

    4. Both of the kids law firms have opened accounts for his defense cost. The media is already getting him off the front page as there is too much evidence coming out that he acted in self defense. A couple bucks on the way from me. This kid needs all the help we can send his way.

  2. More charges they toss at him, more likely he is to plea out to one of the lesser charges and the da walks away claiming a win.

    1. Typical dick move from all DA's. That "piling on" the charges is why we have so many more laws on the books than we did even 50 years ago. I hope Lynn Wood wipes the court room floor with this jerk of a DA.

Notice that the DA is not named anywhere in the article. Neither is the police chief of Rittenhous's town nor the sheriff. However their titles are mentioned. Couldn't be they're scared of a little retaliation could it?

  3. He should have been wearing all black and then maybe they'd release him with no bail. Wouldn't want additional risk to their jail getting more Covid.

    1. Thou shalt not fight back against thy oppressors.

AKA "resistance is futile, you will be assimilated".

That is Rule #1 of the leftist commandments.

    2. I thought the prime Leftist commandment was:

You don't have oppressors, because you ARE the oppressor.
Now submit and give us reparations for stuff that neither you nor your parents did. Or we shall use the magic victimhood words against you. Hark ye and tremble!
      I invoke the S-word: SLAVERY!
      I invoke the H-word: HOLODOMOR!

      You get the idea.

  7. They are piling the charges on against him, and others who resist the "peaceful protesters" like the McCloskeys, in an attempt to deter others from resisting.

  8. At some point, like when the po-leece and DAs really look at evidence and not headlines, they are going to do some long walk-backs. I hope the kid does not get Epstein's jailers.

  9. From the evidence I have seen/heard all charges should justifiably be dropped. Glad he has That lawyer and kudo's need to be sent to the Lawyer

    1. To reference a comment I made earlier, this is a good place to practice jury nullification. But those in the pool need to be smart about how they navigate the system.

  11. It's an open and shut case of self defense. He was attacked and they would have damn near killed him and stolen his weapon had he not fired. Those fuckers got what they and many of their ilk deserve. See how they all ran...like cockroaches in the light.

  12. I didn’t know that the police separated Rittenhouse from his fellow militia members.....

then the police funneled him away with the rioters.....

Rittenhouse is lucky to be alive.

  13. There's an excellent interview from this afternoon in which Vicki McKenna receives a first-person account from one of the patriots involved

It lasts thirty minutes but you'll be grateful to be better informed of the events

  15. His Lawyers have already stalled the extradition hearing. It's going to be interesting to watch this. May be anyone of us could be in a similar situation in the future. Tell then, do what your gut tells you to do should you be in a life changing event. There are no timeouts or re-do's. Then, standup and live with that decision.

  16. I wonder if the guy that hit him in the head with the skateboard got any charges? OH WAIT! He did not recover from that sucking chest wound. Sorry he should not have brought a toy to a gunfight.

  17. There is an excellent post at AR15.com that goes through the timeline almost second by second, with a lot of screen shots from videos, and links to the actual videos. There still seems to be some confusion about the criminal backround of the "Shoot me nigga" guy. There is an image that supposedly id's him as a sex offender, but there is no one by that name on the WI sex offender site, nor on the Dru Sjodin nat'l sex offender site. Guy at AR15.com claims he has a long record in Arizona, both on the street, and while incarcerated. Can't confirm, although I don't see him posting that stuff without vetting it.
