A Kentucky driver's DIY license plate didn't quite fool the police.
Millersburg Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on Sept. 2 after spotting a license plate that seemed a bit out of place, officials said.
From a distance, the homemade license plate looked somewhat like the real deal. Although marker strokes are visible, its numbers and letters are well-drawn and resemble the state plate.

Back in the 80, when I was an MP, Kansas issued a temporary that was just a small piece of paper you stuck in the back window.
ReplyDeletePulled a guy over one night. He had a folded envelope in the back window. When I asked about it he said he'd never gotten the title from the seller and had been driving like this for over a year.

Come on people. Quit being so stupid. If you want to run phoney plates take some time and go through large parking lots and find a car like yours. Write down the plate numbers. Buy a cheap printer and fool around with some numbers you can buy at the box store, print them on sticky labels, put them over your existing plates or some old or stolen plates from somewhere else.
ReplyDeleteI make phoney plates from Mexican States. They don't show any insurance details, or didn't. Times may be changing. Paper dealer tags are also pretty good. If you don't get pulled over no one pays much attention to them.
