I think you’re right about it being the Philippines I remember seeing something about it a few years ago I forgot how long they keep the stiff around but they put offerings like meals cigarettes and booze on top of the coffin I guess the “coffee table” makes a great conversation piece !
Definitely the Philippines. I've seen it first hand many times. It's really bad when the family is poor and can't afford to have the body properly taken care of and then it sits in the living room for a week.
Back in the day in Franklin County and Henry County, a funeral wasn't complete unless there was at least one "Kodak". A memory flic of the dearly departed is a custom of passage. I have "baby" flics of brothers and different ones in the family.
Gotta be the Philippines. They've also been offering live stream "viewings" of the dear departed for years. Don't ask how I know this.

DeleteMy ex's family would do this 40 years ago in mountain Va. I dont remember them being in the coffin shot though so technically not a selfie.
