Short Barreled Rifle Vs Pistol Brace

  1. Hey Kenny, this video reminded me thank you for the trigger recommendation the other day with the Larue 2 stage. It is great and way better than the heavy, gritty one it replaced.

    1. I just ordered one and a PSA drop-in "match". Tired of trying to make the crunchy triggers feel good. I'll let youse know.

  2. DD mk18. Blackout fh, or a Smith vortex. Or, a mini suppressor, much better.
Peq 15, SF 622v light and use 77smk for anything 0-300 yards with reliable efficiency.

It's not rocket science, it's a proven package.

  3. building an AR pistol can be like tapdancing in a minefield. this is one of the best of the many confusing and contradictory guides. keep the barrel short, and the stabilizing brace short. a long brace and a long barrel gets you too close to an SBR.

do not put any foregrip on the front. if it's designed to be held in both hands it is no longer a pistol.

    1. You can put an angled fore grip like the ones magpul make on a pistol, just not a vertical one.

    2. I have two 11.5 in BCM SBRs with suppressors. The SBRs are nice because you can put a true stock on it, whichever you prefer. I have a BCM on mine, my wife’s has a magpul. A real stock is much more comfortable and accurate to shoot with than any pistol brace over ever tried. You can also put whatever you want on the front of it. My wife has an angled fore grip, I have a BCM vertical foregrip that angled slightly backwards that I C grip with. That’s my favorite setup.

I didn’t watch all the way to the end, but it shouldn’t take nearly that long to get an SBR if you efile a form 1 and make one. The only thing different from a normal AR build is that you have to get the lower engraved. Mine only took 30 days from the time I submitted to approval. If you buy a ready made SBR it will take up to a year like a suppressor( mine took 6.5 and 8 months, respectively).

The cons- you have to travel around with paperwork all the time with your SBR. This doesn’t bother me because these are dedicated suppressed rifles so I already have to do that with the suppressors anyways, so adding one more stamp isn’t a big deal. But, if you aren’t running a suppressor with it, that’s a point against an SBR.

Another point against an SBR - you need permission before traveling across state lines. This one is a pain in the ass. All NFA items EXCEPT suppressors require permission to take across state lines for any reason. When I travel out of state, I remove the vertical foregrip and put the short upper on a pistol lower to stay legal.

The purpose of these builds was to have a comfortable to carry and shoot, maneuverable suppressed rifle that’s not longer than a non SBR rifle. So the surefire FA suppressor on, they are about a quarter inch shorter than the standard length civilian AR with flash holder attached.

Any questions about any of that or it you’ve never Efiled and are thinking about it, just ask.
