Goodbye and good riddance, California

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — A handgun accessory and parts manufacturer will move its headquarters, manufacturing and distribution operations from San Diego to Nashville, creating more than 100 jobs.

Governor Bill Lee made the announcement Thursday morning and said GS Performance will renovate and make upgrades to its existing 65,000-square-foot facility on Air Line Drive. The governor explained the building will undergo “extensive retrofitting,” which should be completed by next month.

  2. Air-Line Drive. Brings back memories. Not of Nashville, but of Corpus Christi, Texas. They have an Airline Dr as well. What was that all about back in the 50's and 60's? I never questioned it when I was a kid, but I could kind of understand it in Corpus. The city was surrounded by Naval Air stations during the War. Anywhere you looked was an Airline something. So what about Nashville?

    1. Seaboard Air Line Railroad? But that was primarily east coast and only went as fast West as New Orleans.

  3. Firearms manufacturers are leaving woke states such as NY, California and Connecticut in droves for low tax states with good labor markets and low cost of living. Kimber is the latest to flee NY, That idiot Cuomo is willing to let these companies leave New York by imposing crushing taxes, cursing their products, and favoring and signing laws that make firearm ownership in NY as onerous as possible. Instead of fixing the bloated government and lowering taxes and making an all out effort to keep good solid companies, he further stifled New York companies with his BS COVID executive orders, effectively forcing them to close.

The Southern states, on the other hand, are just the opposite. Watch New York, California, Illinois , Connecticut, Michigan and Minnesota go down the tubes, and watch the tax base of these states move to warmer climates.

  4. I've always been amazed when perusing the pages of the old gun magazines of the '50s, '60s and '70s. It's incredible how many gun related businesses were located in California. Now the only big outfit I can think of is RCBS in Oroville.

  5. As an Atlanta native, where everyone's from somewhere else, my experience with people from those states has not been positive. Maybe Blue State immigrants who work for firearms companies are all raging conservatives but I'm not optimistic. My experience with blue collar people from those states is that they're Democrat union members and have a hard time with the concept of "right-to-work".

    1. Good point Henry Lee. But as a Georgian, and business owner, it's our responsibility to "teach" them the concept of right to work. It's a tough battle sometimes, but they eventually come around. Or leave.
