So much for 'equality'

In August, the Illinois school district that encompasses Evanston announced its plans for a limited opening in September. Expecting that, given the pandemic, not enough teachers would return to schools, the district superintendent said that priority for attending classes in person would go to “Black and Brown students,” and others he considered to “marginalized” or “oppressed.”

In other words, key educational opportunities would be granted and denied on the basis of race.

  1. For those unfamiliar with that part of the country, Evanston is the home of Northwestern University and undeniably the rich folks' yard. I lived in an attic apartment there for several months in the early '70s, surrounded by children of unquestioning privilege, while working in a psych hospital in Des Plaines.

My lifelong experience of with self-righteous liberals is they all had more money than me, every one. Never been hungry, never been scared, don't have a clue what "lift yourself up" means. When I taught computer classes to City of San Francisco employees in the '90s, young black kids recognized me immediately as sounding just like their grandparents -been there, done that.

    God I detest liberals.

  2. I was born in Illinois. I cleared out of that shit state in 1969 and never looked back. The racist school system them is not out of the norm. Pandering is so ugly.

  3. Cool. White parents should homeschool. No matter how poorly they do it (and most will do better than they expect), the kids will be better off. Blessing in disguise.

    1. Uh, Tom, the good folks in Evanston will just hire tutors and nannys for when the tutoring is over.

The big question, though, remains: will homeowners in the district still feel good about paying the shy high property taxes to support their schools?

  5. If White liberal philosophy does not help underclass Black students reach the stage of Democratic dependency, what will. Black "educators" such as Mr. Horton now have the role which at one time was strictly for White Men -- Overseer.

  8. Probably will work out better for all concerned. The Ypipo will just have their kids read books and learn on their own. The rest will continue their indoctrination.
